Introducing the Healing Advocacy Fund
Dear Friends,
With your help, we made history last November by establishing the first ever legal psilocybin therapy program right here in Oregon. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again, for all of the blood, sweat, and tears you poured into this campaign to bring psilocybin therapy to so many in need.
Passing Measure 109 was a breakthrough, but it’s also just the beginning. We now must make sure that the law voters passed is implemented with our core values in mind: healing, accessibility, equity and safety. As we move into this exciting next chapter, it brings me great pleasure to introduce you to The Healing Advocacy Fund.
The Healing Advocacy Fund is a newly founded nonprofit organization that will support the implementation of Measure 109 in Oregon with education and advocacy. Our top priority is to ensure that we create a program that is affordable, accessible, and equitable for all who stand to benefit from psilocybin therapy. I am proud and humbled to serve as the Fund’s first executive director.
We know that whatever happens here in Oregon over the next two years will have major implications for other states and countries who intend to replicate the therapeutic model created by Measure 109. This is why we take seriously the responsibility of the first state to advance such a program, and why we are ready to take our next assignment head on by working hand in hand with the Oregon Health Authority, the soon-to-be-announced Oregon Psilocybin Advisory Board, the Oregon Legislature, and community stakeholders to create the best program possible.
So, what’s next? Here is a quick snapshot of the major rulemaking milestones as set forth by Measure 109.
We look forward to keeping you informed as the rulemaking process moves forward.
Attend our upcoming Measure 109 Debrief & Next Steps webinar February 16th at 6pm PST for a campaign debrief and informational presentation on how we won, where things stand right now, and what you can expect during the next two years of implementation and rulemaking here in Oregon.
Thank you again for all of the support you’ve given to the Measure 109 campaign. I’m incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to continue working with all of you once again in establishing the psilocybin therapy program here in Oregon for so many in need.
Best,
Sam Chapman
